Understanding Your Trailer & Tow Vehicle
Before Hooking Up
- Inspect for damage; report anything before leaving.
- Tyre pressure per trailer label (often 40–55 psi) — include the spare.
- Lights: plug in, headlights on, test indicators/brake/tail.
- Braked trailers: overrun latch set; or power ElecBrakes (headlights ON).
- Chains: no twists/kinks; shackles rated.
Loading & On-Road Tips
Loading
- Keep heavy items in front of the axle; aim ~10% ball weight.
- Strap multiple points; re-check tension after a few km.
- Use ramps and help when needed; never ride on the trailer.
On the Road
- Max 100 km/h (conditions permitting). Increase following distance.
- If sway starts, gently ease off — don’t brake hard — and re-balance.
- Stop periodically to check heat on hubs/tyres and retighten straps.
Not sure? Don’t tow.
