Step-by-step: from booking to towing

  1. Order confirmation

    After payment you’ll get your order number and a confirmation via email/SMS.

  2. One-off ID verification

    Best option: use the secure link in your confirmation to scan the front & back of your physical driver licence.

    No physical licence / using digital ID? Email your ID + order number to matt@empiretrailerhire.com.

    Name must match the booking driver. Once verified, you won’t need to do this again.
  3. Pickup Instructions & Access Code

    Once ID is verified (or already on file), you’ll be issued your Trailer Number and Access Code.

    • If pickup is in the future, watch for the “Pickup Instructions” email.
    • Click “Get Access Code” to view trailer number, lockbox code, and extend hire if needed.
  4. On-site pickup (self-service)

    At your chosen location, find the trailer number from your booking (number on the front panel).

    • Locate the black, round key lockbox(passenger side; some car trailers: under winch).
    • Wake the lockbox (tap to beep/light), enter your code, then press padlock.
    • If incorrect, press Back and re-enter. Green flash + chime = unlocked.
    • Grab the key, unlock the front hitch lock.

  5. Pre-hire checks & hook-up

    • Complete the Trailer Condition Report (start-of-hire).
    • Hitch lockedChains securedLights plugged inJockey wheel up & stowed.
    • Test indicators, brake & tail-lights. Elecbrakes? Headlights ON & app connected.
  6. Return (same easy process)

    • Park in the signed bay, remove all personal items.
    • Put the lock back on the trailer and return the key to the lockbox using the same code.
    • Complete the Trailer Condition Report (end-of-hire).
