How does booking work?
Choose a trailer, pick your hire times, then book online. You’ll get instant confirmation and a “pick-up instructions” email with everything you need. Prefer a walkthrough? See How self-service works.
When do I get the pick-up email? I can’t find it.
We send “pick-up instructions” 1 hr before
your hire, or immediately
for instant bookings. Check spam/junk and search “Empire Trailer Hire”. Still not there? Call 1300 418 285.
Do I need to verify my ID?
Yes—on your first booking you’ll complete a quick ID check
(about 60 seconds) using your driver licence. Have the physical licence
handy. This protects you from fraud and ensures insurance compliance. It’s one-time; future bookings are instant.
Can I pick up or return after hours?
Absolutely. 24/7 pick-up and returns
at our locations using our self-service system. Your email includes lock/access instructions and photos so you know exactly what to do.
What do I need to bring?
Your driver licence
(physical card), a suitable tow vehicle
with legal tow rating for your load, and
bring your own tie-downs/straps if required.
What trailer plug do you use?
Our trailers use a 7-pin flat
plug as well as an adaptor to 7-pin small round.
If your vehicle uses a different plug, please bring an adaptor that suits your car.
Do I need electric brakes or a controller?
No, our trailers that are fitted with electric brakes
use the Elecbrakes
system. This is all controlled through the trailer. Simply download the free Elecbrakes app (App Store/Google Play) before pickup and follow the pairing instructions. (Your cars built in brake controller won't operate the trailer brakes)
Do you supply tie-down straps or a winch?
Straps are NOT included.
Please bring your own (Bunnings/Supercheap have suitable options). Many car trailers have an electric winch
; see the trailer page for specs and bring gloves and soft shackles if you prefer.
Vehicle & load requirements
Your tow vehicle must be rated to legally tow the total weight of the trailer + load
. Ensure your towball size and height are suitable and that all lights/indicators work after connection. Secure your load with appropriate rated straps/chain.
Can I change or extend my booking?
Yes—use the link below your access code to extend your hire, or complete the Order Change Request Form. Extensions are subject to availability.
Do you offer one-way hires?
No.
One-way hires aren’t available. Trailers must be returned to the pickup location.

. Availability is shown live when you select a trailer.
Payments, Deposits
All bookings are paid securely online. No bond/deposit is required. Optional insurance is available in checkout.
